Doug Saylor

Planning and Development

With more than 25 years experience in the telecommunications industry, Doug Saylor currently serves as Senior Vice President of Planning and Development at Fujitsu Network Communications. In this role, Doug is responsible for the planning, management and support of the Fujitsu optical transport, network management, and data solutions product lines. He is also responsible for Business Development, which drives the company’s business plan and business strategies.

Doug’s telecommunications career began in 1980 at AT&T Bell Laboratories (now Lucent Bell Laboratories), where he was involved in hardware development for several peripheral products associated with AT&T’s Class 5 Switching products. Doug also held positions at Rockwell International and DSC Corporation (now Alcatel), where he was involved in areas of product management, corporate strategic planning, and product and business development.

Since his career at Fujitsu began in 1987, Doug has held numerous positions within the company from product management to sales. During the late 1990s, he served as the Regional Vice President of Sales for Bell Atlantic (now Verizon). Doug has also served as the Vice President of Sales and Customer Service for Fujitsu’s subsidiary in the Boston area, known as Nexion. Prior to his current role, Doug was Senior Vice President of Marketing where he was responsible for Fujitsu’s business management, proposals, account management, marketing communications, media relations and competitive intelligence.

Doug holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Northwestern University.
